1. الحمد لله جلَّ الله من خالقٍ

    وهو العليم بنا ألفاتقُ الراتق

    Praise be to Allah, the Exalted

    The All-Knowing Creator of all

  2. قد ضمّ شملي به إذ كنت في عدم

    لا علم عندي بمخلوقٍ ولا خالقِ

    He brought me together when I was naught

    I knew not of any creature or Creator

  3. حتى إذا برزتْ بالكون أعيننا

    علمت بالكونِ قطعاً أنه الخالق

    Until our eyes opened onto the universe

    I knew for certain that He is the Creator

  4. وإنه واحدٌ ولا شريك له

    إلا القبول فأنى فيه بالصادق

    He is One with no partner

    Except truth, how could there be any doubt?

  5. والله لو علموا ما قلته سجدوا

    لكلِّ ذي نظر في علمه فائق

    If they knew what I said, they would prostrate

    Every insightful one with superior knowledge

  6. سراب مجلاه في انسان ناظرهم

    ماء يموجه أنواره غارق

    A mirage reflecting in the seeing person

    Waves of light submerging him

  7. سرابٌ أحبابه على اختلافهمُ

    في الحب فيه شرابٌ صفوهُ رائق

    A mirage, though its lovers vary

    In love it is delicious sweet drink

  8. شِربٌ إذا نادموه في مجالسهم

    بما تلاه عليهم كلهم ناطقُ

    A drink, when called upon in their gatherings

    Reciting to them, all eloquent

  9. لا ينظرون إلى غير فيحجبهم

    ويحذرون لديه فجأة الغاسق

    They look not to another, lest it distracts them

    And they be wary of the sudden darkness

  10. وكلهم في جمال الله حين بدا

    للناظرين إليه الهائمُ العاشق

    All of them beautiful in God's beauty when it emerged

    To the passionate, love-dazed beholders

  11. او حققوا ما رأوه لم يروه سوى

    لهم ولكنهم أعماهم الطارقُ

    Or had they realized what they saw, they saw it only

    For them, but blindness overtook them

  12. إنَّ الذي فلق الإصباح قال لنا

    بأنه للنوى والحبِّ بالفالق

    He who split the dawn said to us

    That it is for the eyes and for love's severing

  13. أين الصباحُ وأين الحب فاعتبروا

    فشمسُ إعلامه في شرقه شارق

    Where is the dawn and where is love? Contemplate

    His sun of guidance rises radiant in the east

  14. إنّ الصباحَ من أجل العين أبرزه

    والحبُّ للروح فانظر حالة الفارق

    The dawn was made for the eyes

    And love for the spirit, see the difference

  15. فالحبُّ أشرفُ من عينِ الصباح فكن

    بما أتيتَ به لفهمك الواثق

    Love is nobler than the eye of dawn, so be

    Certain in what you came with, confident

  16. لذاك قدِّمه على الصباح فإن

    تعدلْ به فلقاً فلست بالصادق

    Prioritize it over dawn, for if

    You equate them, you are not truthful

  17. إنَّ الصباح قديمٌ للنوى وكذا

    للحبِّ وهو لهذا الهائم الرامق

    Dawn is old for the eyes, and so is

    Love for this faint aspirer

  18. روحٌ تولّد عن حبٍّ تولّد عن

    نور تولّد عن عنايةِ الرازق

    A spirit born of love born

    Of light born of the Sustainer's care

  19. الله يخلفه والله يخلفه

    لذا هو الدهر من أسمائه الفائق

    God succeeds Him and God succeeds Him

    Thus He is timeless, sublimest of names

  20. لقد ضممتَ إلى حسن العبارةِ من

    حسنِ المعاني علوم المصطفى السابق

    You combined eloquent phrasing

    With elegant meaning, learnings of the Master Foregoer

  21. إنْ لم أكن سابقا في كلِّ ما نطقتْ

    به التراجمُ كنت المقتفي اللاحق

    If I was not foremost in all

    The chronicles spoke, I was the pursuing emulator

  22. إني لأقذف بالحقِّ المبين على

    ما كان من باطل ليمسي الزاهق

    I hurl the clear truth upon

    Whatever falsehood to make it perish
