أَلِم بِمَنزِلِ أَحبابٍ لَهُم ذِمَمُ
سَحَّت عَلَيهِم سَحابٌ صَوبُها دِيَمُ
My abode neighbors the dwellings of friends with enduring ties
Clouds have poured over them whose showers are lasting
وَاِستَنشِقِ الريحَ مِن تِلقاءِ أَرضِهِمُ
شَوقاً لِتُخبِرَكَ الأَرواحُ أَينَ هُمُ
Inhale the wind from the direction of their land
Yearning for the spirits to tell you where they are
أَظُنُّهُم خَيَّموا بِالبانِ مِن إِضَمٍ
حَيثُ العَرّارُ وَحيثُ الشيحُ وَالكَتَمُ
I reckon they have camped at twisted heath
Where the jujube, artemisia, and prickly pear grow
