Oh breeze of the wind, convey to Najd's dwellers
That I stand by what you know of the covenant
And tell the damsel of the quarter my tryst is
On Saturday morn, by the mound of Najd
On the red hillock, from the side of Al-Dhawa
And from the right of the streams and unique flag
If what she says be true, and longing for me
Equals mine, which gladdens, meet at noonday heat
By her tent secretly, true to the vow
There to share what of love is ours, and of
Intense agony, and pain of ardour
Are they mirages, dreams, fancied tidings
I recount, an era whose speech brought joy
Perchance He who steered wishes will steer them
To reality, and its garden's rose bestow
