النورُ ستر الذي الأظلام تحجبه

عنا وترفعه مفاتِح الكرمِ

The light is a veil that darkness hides from us

And sublime keys of generosity raise it

وقل به كرماً إنْ كنتَ ذا كرم

فإنما الكشفُ بين النورِ والظلم

And speak of it with generosity if you are generous

For the unveiling is only between the light and the darkness

ما أسدل الستر إلا أنْ يصون به

وجه الكيانِ من الإحراق والعدم

The veil was lowered only to protect

The essence of existence from burning and perishing

إذا أردت ترى ما لا تراه فكن

به على قدمٍ علياءَ من قدم

If you want to see what you cannot see, then be

With it, lofty of step from step

له الإحاطة ليست لي فأطلبها

فإنها قد تؤذيني إلى الندم

It has encompassing knowledge, I do not, so seek it

For it may lead me to regret

لا شيء أعلم بعد الله منه سوى

نون الدِواةِ فرأسُ السيد القلم

I know nothing after Allah but it

The nun of the pen, it is the master's head

هو المفصل ما في النون أجمله

ربّ العباد بمنشورٍ ومنتظم

It articulated whatever beauty is in the nun

Lord of servants with an issued and orderly decree

فهذه حكمٌ جاءتك من حكمٍ

له التحكم في الألباب بالحكم

So these are wisdoms that came to you

From the All-Wise whose wisdom rules minds

فالعلم في عالم الأنوار والظلم

أقوى ظهوراً من العرفانِ في الكلم

So knowledge in the world of light and darkness

Is stronger in appearance than gnosis in speech
