1. إني لأعلم أن شيئاً ما هنا

    ويقالُ لي ما أنت عنه بغائبِ

    I know that something is here, though told it's not,

    And a believer accepts both truths devout.

  2. وتحقق الأمرين عبدٌ مؤمنٌ

    بمغيبة عنا وقولُ الصاحبِ

    Thus in each view submissive is he found,

    Though reconciling opposites confounds.

  3. فتراه في هذا وذاك مقلِّداً

    والقولُ بالحكمين ضربةُ لازبِ

    Like denying what all saw he hit the mark,

    Since the Imam, by God's will, cannot embark

  4. كالنفي في الرمي الذي شهدوا له

    ثبتاً من الرامي الإمام النائب

    On falsehood. So in both views we acquiesce,

    As when stolen goods are in the robber's dress.

  5. لا يمترون ولا يشك بأنه

    لم يرمِ إلا الحق في يد حاجب

    Judging thus in both regards is like the case

    Of that puzzle, where anger met with grace.

  6. فالحكم في هذا وذاك كمثله

    في قصة المغصوب مع يد غاضب

    A strange affair whose secret is unknown,

    Save to Him, the Everlasting, on His throne.

  7. دور غريب ليس يعرف سرَّه

    إلا الذي يأتي بصورة ذاهب
