تدرعَ لاهوتي بناسوتي

وحصل موسى اليم تابوتي

He donned his divinity with humanity

And Moses attained the ark of the covenant

فمن قال عني إنني العبدُ

وقد صحَّ أني الملك الفردُ

So whoever says I am the servant

When it is proven that I am the One King

فرُبَّ عليم غرَّه الجحدُ

فانظر عزتي فيك وتثبيتي

Then the Ignorant has been deluded by God the All-Knowing

So look upon my glory in you and my stability

على عرش تنزيهي عن القوت

ولو كنتَ خلقا كنتَ محصورا

Upon the throne of my transcendence above power

Had you been a creation you would be limited

ولو كنتَ عبدا كنتَ مقهورا

وكنت على الإيمان مفطورا

Had you been a servant you would be suppressed

And you would be predisposed to faith

فجسمي فيكم جسم مكبوت

وروحي فيه روحُ مبخوت

So my body in you is an oppressed body

And my spirit in it is a vanquished spirit

ألا فاكتمي يا نفسُ أو بوحي

فقد ثبتَ الجسمُ مع الروح

Oh soul, either keep it secret or confess

For the body has been proven along with the spirit

عياناً ثبوتَ الرقم في اللوحِ

فإن حكمَ الله بتشتيتي

Clearly the number's fixation on the tablet

So if God judges my dispersion

هنالك يبدو عجز لا هوتي

فإن قال غيري أنني مثلك

Then the impotence of my divinity appears

And if another says I'm like you

وإن كنت عرشاً فإنا ظلك

أو ديمة قطرٍ فأنا وبلك

And if I were a throne then I'm your shade

Or a raindrop so I am your clouds

أقول لنفسي هات أو هيتي

فعيشي على ذلك أو موتي

I say to myself produce or take your life

And live by that or die by it

ألم تعلمي إذ بنى البيت

ما أسرع ما يهدمه الموت

Don't you know when the house was built

How quickly death destroys it

ويبقى عليه حزنه الفوت

فكم بين ملحوظٍ وممقوت

And only its loss remains

So how much between the observed and ignored

وكم بين ذي التابوت والحوت

فلو زال تزيندٌ وتبريح

And how much between he of the coffin and the whale

So if pretentiousness and vileness disappeared

في القول وفي القلب تجريح

لفتح في سرِّك تفتيح

In words and in hearts a wounding

An unlocking would open in your secret

ولاحظت ما لاحظ من أوتي

معاينة القربِ وما أوتي

And you would observe what was given to see
