إذا كان كلُّ اسم يسمَّى ويُنعت

بأسمائه الحسنى التي تتفاضلُ

If every name is named and described

With its excellent names that differ,

فلا فضلَ في الأسماء إنْ كنت ذا حجى

وإن كان منها ذو علوٍّ وسافلُ

Then there is no superiority in names if you have reason,

Even if among them is one of height and one low.

فما العال منها في الترقي برتق

وما سافل الأسماء في الحكم نازل

So the lofty among them does not rise in merit

And the lowly names are not deficient in wisdom.

فمن فهم الأمر الذي قد ذكرته

فذاك إمام في الحكومة عادل

Whoever understands what I have mentioned

Is an imam of justice in governance.

يُسمى بقطبِ الدين فالعدلُ نعته

وليس أخو علمٍ كمن هو جاهل

He is called the Pole of Religion, so justice is his description,

And he is not like one who is ignorant.

فإنّ ذمه ذو النقصِ فهي شهادةٌ

بأن الذي قد ذم في الفضل كاملُ

For indeed, blaming one with shortcomings is testimony

That the one who blamed has perfect virtue.
