1. ألا فارجع إلى أصلِ الوجودِ

    لما تدريه من كرمٍ وجودِ

    Behold, return to the origin of existence,

    For the generosity and being you know it has.

  2. لقد منَّ الإله على فؤادي

    بما أعطاه في حالِ السجودِ

    God has bestowed upon my heart,

    With what He gave it in prostration.

  3. سجودُ القلبِ إنْ فكَّرتَ فيه

    على التحقيقِ يوذنُ بالشهودِ

    Prostration of the heart, if you contemplate it,

    Truly portends witnessing.

  4. إلى الأبد الذي ما فيه حد

    تعالى عن مصاحبةِ الحدود

    To the eternal endless eternity,

    Transcending accompaniment of limits.

  5. جهلتَ وما جحدتَ سبيلَ كوني

    فإنَّ الأصل فيّ من الصعيد

    You were ignorant and did not reject the way of my existence,

    For my origin is from the soil.

  6. صعدتُ به إلى شرفِ المعالي

    فانزلني إلى سعدِ السعود

    With it I ascended to the honor of sublimities,

    So bring me down to the joy of felicities.

  7. وناداني وقد خلفت قومي

    ورآئي بالمقرَّب والبعيد

    And He called me when I had left my people,

    Behind me, near and far.

  8. وآثرتُ الجنابَ جنابَ ربي

    فالحقني بمنزلةِ العبيد

    And I preferred the company of my Lord's company,

    So join me to the station of servants.

  9. وملكني الصفات فكنت مثلا

    ونزهه عن المثَل الوجودي

    And He granted me virtues so I became an example,

    And transcended the exemplary existence.

  10. وأيّ فضيلةٍ أسنى وأعلى

    يقاومها بجناتِ الخلودِ

    And what virtue is loftier and higher,

    To equal the gardens of immortality?

  11. فضلتُ بها على الآباء حقا

    يقينا صادقاً وعلى الجدود

    I was preferred over the fathers in truth,

    A sincere certainty, and over ancestors.

  12. وأعلمني المهيمن أن جدي

    من أكرم ما يكون من الجدود

    And the All-Dominant taught me that my ancestor

    Is the most generous that can be of ancestors.

  13. سوى جد الإله فقد تعالى

    عن الكفوء المصاحب والوليد

    Except the ancestor of God, for He has transcended

    The comparable companion and child.
