  1. فَقالَت الظبية قَد

    أَحسَنت في القَول فَقَد

    The doe said, "You have

    spoken well, so

  2. ماذا التوقي البارد

    المَوت شَيء وَاحد

    what is the point of pointless

    yearning? Death is one thing

  3. إِتَّفَقت شعابه

    وَاِختَلَفَت أَسبابه

    Its causes differ

    though its ends are the same

  4. لا مَوت إِلا بِأَجل

    لَيسَ بِرد بِالحيل

    None can die before their time

    Nor can the appointed hour be delayed

  5. فَاِنهَض إِلى المَعالي

    وَاجسر وَلا تُبالِ

    So rise up to high ambitions

    Take risks and never mind

  6. وَخُذ مِن الزَّمان

    حَظاً فَأنتَ فان

    Seize your share of time

    For you too will pass

  7. لابُد مِن مَوت فَلم

    تَرضى بجور مهتضم

    Death is inevitable so do not

    Accept oppression lying down

  8. من عشق المَعاليا

    لَم يَخف اللياليا

    He who loves lofty goals

    Will not fear the nights

  9. الهِمم العليَّه

    وَالمُهج الأبيَّه

    Lofty ambitions

    And steadfast hearts

  10. تقرب المنيَّه

    منك أَو الأمنيَّه

    Bring within reach

    All you wish or dream

  11. وَرُبَّما نالَ الفَتى

    أَضعاف ما كانَ أَتى

    And sometimes the youth

    Attains far more than he sought

  12. أَحرك فَإن الحَرَكه

    كَما يُقال بَرَكه

    So stir yourself for activity

    Is a blessing, they say

  13. وَلَيسَ كُل سَمَكه

    تُصبح رَهن الشَّبكه

    Not every fish

    Ends up in the net

  14. فَباشر الحتوفا

    وَصافِح السُّيوفا

    Face the swords,

    Grasp the blades

  15. وَاخترق الصُّفوفا

    تَكُن بِذا مَعروفا

    Break through the ranks

    And make yourself renowned

  16. لَولا خطار عنتر

    بِنَفسهِ لَم يُذكر

    Without Antar's daring

    He would not be recalled

  17. المَجدُ بِالمُخاطَره

    وَالنَّصرُ بِالمُصابَره

    Glory lies in boldness

    Victory in endurance

  18. الخَير في المُشاوَرَه

    العز في المُبادَره

    Good in consultation

    Honor in initiative

  19. مَن خَشيَ العَواقبا

    وَشاور التجاربا

    He who fears consequences

    And consults experience

  20. لَم يَبلغ المَراتِبا

    وَيُحرز المَناصِبا

    Will never attain high office

    Or secure positions of power

  21. إِياكَ وَالرقاعه

    فَإِنَّها ضراعه

    Beware abjectness

    For it is a poor mount

  22. الصَّبر عَندَ العَجز

    الفَقر عَيب مخز

    Patience in weakness is shame

    Poverty is disgrace

  23. لا تحملن وَاجهل

    لا ترفقن واعجل

    Do not act rashly or in haste

    Do not slight or disdain

  24. احمَق مَع الزَّمان

    وَاجهل مع الأخوان

    Bear patiently Time's oppression

    Excuse the ignorance of friends

  25. لا تنصفن وَاظلم

    لا تحجمن واقدم

    Do not respond to injustice

    With further injustice

  26. أَدنى الرِّجال من حمل

    جور الزَّمان وَالسفل

    The lowest of men suffers

    Time's tyranny and baseness

  27. الحمل مِن شان الجمل

    وَالصَّبر مِن طَبع الوكل

    Burdens are for camels

    Patience for sheep
