يبلبلُ منّي العقلَ صدغٌ مبلبلٌ
ويملكُ منّي القلبَ أغيدُ أسمرُ
A tangled temple-lock throws my mind into turmoil;
and the graceful, dusky one possesses my heart.
وقدٌّ كغصن البان يهتزّ مائداً
وخصرٌ على الرِّدفِ الثقيل مزنّرُ
His figure, like a bough of the ben tree, trembles and sways;
and a waist, above the heavy haunches, is girdled.
وخدٌّ أسيل تحت صدغٍ مشوَّشٍ
على طِرسهِ سَطرٌ من الحسن أخضرٌ
And a smooth cheek beneath a disordered temple-lock—
across its parchment runs a green line of beauty.
