  1. مَن لَك بالصدوق

    وَحافظ الحُقوق

    Who do you have that is truthful

    And preserves rights

  2. لا البشر وَالمداهنه

    وَاللطف وَالمُحاسنه

    Not people who flatter

    And charm and beauty

  3. لا تَغتَرر بِظاهر

    وَحسن بشر باهر

    Do not be fooled by the exterior

    And splendid human appearance

  4. وَأعطهم كَذاكا

    تملك بِهِ أَعداكا

    And give them accordingly

    To possess thereby your enemies

  5. صاحبهم عَلى وَجَل

    مِن شَرهم تكفى الزلل

    Befriend them worriedly

    Of their evil, faults suffice

  6. إِياكَ وَالمُباسَطه

    وَكَثرة المُخالَطه

    Beware of intimacy

    And much intermingling

  7. لِكُل عقد واسطه

    لكل عقد ناشطه

    For every contract an intermediary

    For every contract an active one

  8. احذر عَلى التحقيق

    عَداوة الصديق

    Beware in truth

    The enmity of a friend

  9. امنحه كُل بَرَكه

    وَامنعه كُل شركه

    Give him every blessing

    And deny him every partnership

  10. ما أَحسَن التوفيقا

    ما أَعدم الصديقا

    How good is harmony

    How missing is the friend

  11. أَشبع إِذا أطعمتا

    أسجح إِذا ملكتا

    Satiate if you feed

    Prostrate if you possess

  12. قُل للأَنام حسنا

    تَبن بِذاكَ رُكنا

    Say to people, good

    You build thereby a pillar

  13. لا تكثر الشكايه

    فَإِنَّها جِنايه

    Do not complain much

    For it is a crime

  14. لا تصحبن ذا ريبه

    وَخلة معيبه

    Do not accompany one suspicious

    And a private reproach

  15. إِذا استشرت فَاِنصح

    إِذا سُئلت فَاسمح

    If you consult, then advise

    If asked, then facilitate

  16. العَفو عِندَ القُدرة

    شكر لحسن النصره

    Pardoning when able

    Thanks for good victory

  17. لا تقنعن بالدون

    فَذاكَ أَصل الهون

    Do not be content with less

    For that is the origin of disgrace

  18. إِذا جَهلت فَاِسأل

    إِذا سئلت فَاِبذل

    If ignorant, then ask

    If asked, then give

  19. لا تَبخلن بِفائِده

    فَهِيَ عَلَيك عائِده

    Do not be stingy with benefit

    For it returns to you

  20. لِكُل نار قادح

    لِكُل بئر نازح

    For every fire a lighter

    For every well a drawer

  21. لكل شيء موضع

    لكل صنع مصنع

    For everything a place

    For every craft a maker

  22. ما لك عِند الشده

    مثل الجَميل عده

    What do you have in hardship

    Like a good friend's help

  23. مَوَدة الصديق

    تظهر في المَضيق

    Love of a friend

    Appears in straits

  24. خَير الحَياة ما صَفا

    خَير الطعام ما كَفى

    Best of lives what was pure

    Best of food what sufficed

  25. خَير الصديق مَن وَفى

    خَير الوَرى مَن أَنصَفا

    Best of friends who was loyal

    Best of people who was just

  26. بَعض الأناة عَجز

    بَعض السؤال لَمز

    Some patience is inability

    Some questioning is blemish

  27. بَعض الولاد ثكل

    منّ اللئيم غل

    Some children are bereavement

    The wicked's gall is filth

  28. الحزم في المشاورة

    العزم في المبادرة

    Decisiveness in consultation

    Determination in undertaking

  29. الحَزم ثُم العَزم

    كُل وَضيع يَسمو

    Decisiveness then determination

    Every ignoble rises

  30. نعم المهاد الأمن

    بيع الصديق غبن

    Good security is tranquility

    Selling a friend is loss

  31. الصبر في الشدائد

    مِن شيم الأَماجد

    Patience in ordeals

    Is of valor's traits

  32. شَر السجايا الحرص

    فَضل اللئيم نَقص

    Worst traits are greed

    The wicked's merit is lack

  33. مَن خالَف الطبيبا

    رَأى القَضا قَريبا

    Who opposes the doctor

    Sees fate soon

  34. بَعض الحَياة مَوت

    بَعض النجاح فَوت

    Some life is death

    Some success is loss

  35. كُل أَديب ممتحن

    وَكُل قَلب ذو شجن

    Every scholar is tested

    And every heart has passion

  36. المكر وَالخَديعه

    مِن نَكد الطبيعه

    Trickery and deception

    Of nature's tedium

  37. المُستَشار مؤتمن

    ما للذي تَهوى ثَمَن

    The advisor is entrusted

    What is the price of what you desire
