لَيس عَلى الخَير نَدَم
لَيسَ مَع الذكر عَدَم
No regret comes with doing good
No loss accompanies remembrance
لَيسَ مِن النَفس خَلَف
لَيسَ مَع الكبر شَرَف
No treachery comes from the self
No honor comes with arrogance
لَيسَ مَع الغَدر كَرَم
لَيسَ معَ الغَي هَرم
No generosity comes with betrayal
No ruin comes with vanity
لَيسَ مَع الحَمد عوض
لَيسَ سِوى اللَّه غَرَض
No recompense comes with praise
No purpose but God is sought
لَيسَ مَع العجب مَقه
لَيسَ مَع الكذب ثِقَه
No wisdom comes with conceit
No trust comes with lies
لَيسَ مَع الحرص وَرَع
لَيسَ مَعَ العز طَمَع
No piety comes with greed
No ambition comes with might
لَيسَ مَع العَقل لعب
لَيسَ من الدين الكذب
No maturity comes with play
No religion comes from lies
لَيسَ معَ اللوم نسَب
لَيسَ معَ الجَهل حَسَب
No lineage comes with blame
No merit comes with ignorance
لَيسَ مَعَ المَوت فَرَح
لَيسَ مَع العلم تَرح
No joy comes with death
No comfort comes with knowledge
لَيسَ مَع اليأس تَعب
لَيسَ معَ الفقر طَرَب
No fatigue comes with despair
No tranquility comes with poverty
لَيسَ السجايا واحِده
لَيسَ الليالي عائِدَه
Temperaments are not alike
Nights do not return the same
لَيسَ بِراض قادح
لَيسَ بِطاغٍ ناصِح
No sincere advisor is a faultfinder
No tyrant is a counselor
لَيسَ يحيد بخت
لَيسَ يَعود وَقت
Fate does not waver
Time does not come back
لَيسَ تَدوم شده
لَيسَ تُقيم حده
Ferocity does not last
Limits cannot be maintained
لَيسَ مَعَ الجود جَده
لَيسَ معَ الوجد عده
No bounty comes from stinginess
No intimacy comes from aloofness
مطل الغنى ظلم
عزُّ المَعالي غنم
Wealth’s shadow is injustice
The glory of high rank is booty
الكَد للمجد دَعه
الضيق في الجود سعه
Leave off toil for glory
In generosity, straitness is plenty
لَيسَ معَ الصَّبر حُزن
أحسنت في المَقاله
No sadness comes with patience
You have excelled in this discourse
خَير مِن العي الخرس
فَإِنَّما العُمر نَفس
Better than a dumb life
Is that the life is but a breath
