1. فمن كيوسف في يوم ندى ووغى

    تلقاه أعظم مطعام ومطعان

    He who is like Joseph on a day of dew and clamor

    Will find himself with ample food and water

  2. فكلما اخلفت سحب ففي يده

    لنا سحائب خمس ذات تهتان

    So whenever the clouds withdraw, in his hand

    Are five pouring clouds of twisting folds

  3. أو أحجم الليث مذعوراً فإنّ لنا

    ليثاً مهيباً بدا في ثوب سلطان

    Or the lion frightened, though for us is

    A majestic lion dressed in a sultan's robe

  4. يا أهل أندلس قرّت عيونكم

    بتحية الملك من أبناء قحطان

    O people of Andalusia, your eyes are comforted

    With the king's greeting, from Qahtan's sons

  5. أسلافه قادة الأملاك من يمن

    شادوا وسادوا بأحلام وأديان

    His ancestors, leaders of kingdoms from Yemen

    Who established and ruled with dreams and faiths

  6. فقل غيوث إذا جدب واعر فبدا

    والناس في أزمات ذات ألوان

    Say he is relief when drought parches and appears

    And people are in crises of diverse hues

  7. وقل ليوث إذا حرب بدت فعدت

    على جياد فقد انقضت كعقبان

    And say he's a lion if war comes to pass

    On steeds that swooped down like eagles
