1. مُصابٌ جليلٌ وصنعٌ جميل

    وَمُلكٌ سعيدٌ وأجرٌ جزيل

    A sublime affliction and beautiful making

    And a prosperous reign and plentiful reward

  2. فذاكَ يهيِّجُ برحَ الأسى

    وهذا يسكِّنُ فرطَ الغليل

    For that stirs the swell of sorrow

    And this soothes excess anguish

  3. وكلُّ الأنامِ له باحثُ

    وكلُّ فؤادٍ صحيح عَليل

    And all people search for it

    And every true heart aches

  4. فمذ غاض بحرُ النَّدى لم تَزَل

    بِحارُ الدموع عليه تسِيل

    Since the sea of dew overflowed, tears

    Have not ceased pouring upon it

  5. وحقَّ لأجفاننا أن تصوبَ

    وحقَّ لأجسادنا أن تحول

    And it is right for our eyelids to pour

    And right for our bodies to toss and turn

  6. لئن ساءنا خطبُ ذاك المصابِ

    لقد سرَّه وشكُ ذاك الرحيل

    If that affliction's news pained us

    Then its end brought joy, that departure

  7. فَمِن قصرِهِ وإلى قصرِه

    فطابَ مُعرَّسهُ والمَقيل

    From his palace to His palace

    Blessed his wedding, restful his bed

  8. تبدَّل من نعمة تنقضي

    نعيماً مقيماً ونعم البديل

    Exchanged brief blessing

    For lasting bliss, excellent the exchange

  9. وعُوِّضَ من زائلٍ باقياً

    فها هو فينعمةٍ لا تزول

    Compensated loss with lasting gain

    Say to enemies, die in sorrow

  10. فقل للمعادين موتوا أسىً

    وقُل للموالينَ كُفُّوا العوَيل

    And say to allies, cease your wailing

    For he reached where he wished, ascended

  11. فقد حلَّ حيث اشتهى وارتقى

    بأعلى محَلٍّ وأسنى مَقِيل

    To highest station, most blessed rest

    And his Master granted him what he chose

  12. وأولاه مولاه ما اختاره

    وقابل أعماله بالقبول

    And met his deeds with acceptance

    So the party of guidance continues glorying

  13. فما زال حزبُ الهدى في اعتزاز

    لديه وحزبُ الضلال الذليل

    Through him, and misguidance disgraced

    Sometimes he marches to their war

  14. فطَوراً يَسيرُ إلى حربهم

    ففي كل فج دماء تسيل

    With blood spilling in every ravine

    Other times readies an army against them

  15. وطوراً يجهّز جيشاُ لهم

    في كل حَزنٍ وسهل رعيل

    In every valley and plain a cohort

    And he left among us, just Al-Rida

  16. وخلَّف فينا الرضا العادل ال

    إمام السعيد الهمام الجليل

    Great revered Imam and noble

    Through him God united the rightly guided

  17. به ألّف الله شمل الهدا

    ة وجدَّد ربعَ المعالي المَحيل

    And renewed the lofty glories decayed

    We were lost without the Imam’s guidance

  18. ضللنا لفقد إمام الهُدى

    فكان لنا منه أهدى دليل

    But he was for us the best guide

    He stood to honor my God’s religion

  19. فقام لإعزاز ديني الإله

    فكان له الله نعم الوكيل

    So God was for him the best ally

    Were it not for you, reviver of the revered

  20. فلولاكَ يا مُحييِ المكرُما

    تِ لمَا غادرَ الحزنُ مِنَّا العقولُ

    Sorrow would not have left our minds

    And were it not for you, after him who

  21. ولولاكَ مَن للعلى بعده

    وللصفح عن مذنب مستقيل

    And for pardoning the repentant supplicant?

    And who for struggle and night vigil

  22. ومن للكفاح وسمر الرما

    ح ومن للحُسام اليمان الصقيل

    And for the sharp Yemeni blade?

    And who for worship and who for lands?

  23. ومن للعباد ومن للبلاد

    ومن للسماح وبذل الجزيل

    And who for generosity and ample bounty?

    God mended the rift of hearts

  24. وقد جبر الله صَدعَ القلوب

    بجارٍ على نهج تلك السبيل

    With a neighbor on that path

    Who aids the destitute and checks the hostile

  25. يُغيثُ العُفاةَ وسم العداة

    وأسعد كافٍ وأسنى كفيل

    And gladdened many and best guarantor

    The land shone after the darkening

  26. فأشرقَت الأرض من بعدما

    تردَّت بغيهب ذاك الأفول

    Of that sunset and decline

    He clothed Andalusia in his justice

  27. وألبس أندلُساً عدله

    جمالاً فليس لها من عديل

    In beauty with no match

    And met all the armies of sorrow

  28. وقابِل جميعَ جيوش الأسى

    بصبر يَرُدُّ شِباهاً قَليل

    With patience repelling hordes

    You remain in your lofty reign

  29. ولا زلتَ في ملكك المعتلي

    وفي نعم ضافيات الذُيول

    And endless blessings and trails

    Of robes
