1. حلّت الشمس برأس الحملِ

    واكتسى الروضُ بديعَ الحُلَلِ

    The sun arose over the head of Aries,

    And the garden was adorned with the finest garments.

  2. فكلّ تلعةٍ غُصنُ نقا

    يتثنّى كتثنّي الثملِ

    So every bending branch is a dancing gazelle

    Bending as the ostrich bends.

  3. وبكلِّ ربوةٍ ناجمةٍ

    من جَنَيِّ زهرهن الخَضِلِ

    And on every hillside, a resting place

    Of their blossoming meadows' verdure.

  4. من أقاح باسم ونرجسٍ

    وجل وياسمينٍ خَجِلِ

    With chamomile, narcissi,

    And lilies - bashfully blooming.

  5. فالسماءُ والرياضُ اشتركت

    شبهاً يغُرّ عين المجتلي

    The sky and the meadows both shared

    An illusion that dazzles the eyes of the onlooker -

  6. من نجوم كأزاهير الرُّبا

    أومجرة كمثل الجدول

    Of stars like flowers of meadowsweet

    Or a planet like a stream.

  7. صورتنا ظهرت فكم بها

    من سماك رامحٍ وأعزلِ

    Our image appeared, so how much

    Like a spear-throwing horseman's is its slimness!

  8. فكأنَّ الشمس لما طلعت

    نثرت بالأرض هاتيكَ الحلِي

    It's as though when the sun rose

    It scattered these ornaments upon the earth.

  9. حَبَّذا فصلُ الربيعِ مَلكاً

    جاءنا مِن حُسنِهِ في جَحفَلِ

    Welcome, O season of springtime, O king

    Who came to us in his beauty, in procession!

  10. فترى اللؤلؤ والياقوتَ قد

    نُظِما في تاجِهِ المكَللِ

    You see pearls and rubies

    Strung on his bejeweled crown.

  11. نُشرَت أعلامُهُ مُذهَبةً

    في غصونٍ مثل سمر الأسلِ

    His banners were unfurled, gold-embroidered

    On branches, like the reddish horsehair tassel.

  12. ولكل مُذنِبِ من تحتها

    هزّة السيفِ بكفِّ البَطَلِ

    And for each sinner beneath them

    A sword-brandishing by the hand of a hero.

  13. فأجب داعيهِ ملبياً

    شارحاً صدر المنى والجذلِ

    So answer his call, complying,

    Relieving the heart's suffering and affliction.

  14. أقبلَ الربيعُ والعيدُ معاً

    وافِدَينِ بالنَّعِيمِ المقبلِ

    Springtime and celebration arrived together,

    Two visitors with abundant blessings.

  15. فلنَصِل لِلبِشرِ أقوى سَبَبٍ

    وَلنَرِد لِلأُنسِ أصفَى مَنهَلِ

    So let us unite to bring good tidings to mankind,

    And let us provide the most pure water for felicity.

  16. فالرُّبا قد لَبِسَت زخرفها

    وتحلت بعد طُولَ العُطَلِ

    The meadow has now worn its adornments,

    And been decked out after a long bareness.

  17. ولو أسطعت لقبَّلَتُ يَدَاً

    للنَّدَى قد خُلِقَت والقُبلِ

    Had it shone any brighter, I would have kissed

    The hands created for dew and kisses.

  18. يَدُ ذِي الوزارتينِ إنَّها

    منبَعُ الفضلِ وقُطبِ الأملِ

    The hand of the Lord of the Two Offices - truly

    It is the source of grace and pivot of hope.

  19. حيثُ سيفُ الحَقِّ مسلولُ الظُّبَا

    وسَبِيلُ الرُّشدِ بادي السُبُلِ

    Where the sword of truth bares its blade

    And the path of righteousness shows the way.
