وكنتُ إذا ما حاجَةٌ حالَ دونَها

نهارٌ وليلٌ ليسَ يَعتَذِرانِ

When a need arose that was hindered

Day and night offered no excuses

حَمَلتُ على ظَهرِ القَضاءِ مَلامَها

ولم أُلزمِ الإخوانَ ذَنبَ زَماني

I blamed fate for opposing it

And did not burden my brothers with the guilt of my time
