بكَ الظُّنونُ صَباباتٌ وأَشواقُ
Even if doubts take you away, Abā Bakr
I have for you yearnings, passions, and tears
وعَبرةٌ كلّما هَبّت يمانِيَةٌ
مُدَّت إليكَ بها أَيدٍ وأَحداقُ
Whenever a southern wind blows
Extending hands and eyelids towards you
سَل النَّسيمَ إذا حَيّاك وافِدُهُ
عن الضّمير وفي الأَشياء مِصداقُ
Ask the breeze when it greets you
About my heart - truth lies in things
يُخبركَ عَنّي وعذراً في تلَهُّبه
ففيهِ من نفَسٍ المُشتاقِ إِحراقُ
To tell you about me, though its passion excuses it
For within it burns the longing soul's fire
