وكأسٍ مِنَ الغدرِ مخلوقةٍ

ولكنها للأمير الوَفي

A cup of betrayal was created,

But it belongs to the loyal prince.

إذا ما تضمَّنها كاشِحٌ

تبيّنَ من سِرّه ما خَفِي

If an informer contains it,

What was hidden of his secret is revealed.

قِفَا في المُدامِ على وُدِّهِ

ولا تُنشِداني قِفا أَو قِفي

Stop at his affection in wine,

And do not recite to me "stop" or "stand still."
