كتبتَ فهلا إذ رددتَ جوابي

جعلتَ الرضى عنّي مكان عتابي

You wrote, so when you responded to me

You made your pleasure with me replace my blame

لئن كانَ ذنباً أنني لم أزركمُ

لَفَقدي للقياكم أشَدُّ عِقابِ

If it was a sin that I did not visit you

Then my deprivation of seeing you is punishment enough
