لَم يَنَلْكِ الرّجاء أَنْ تحضريني

وتجافَتْ أُمنيّتي عن سِواكِ

Hope did not grant you to be present before me

And my wish turned away from others but you

فَتَمنَّيتُ أنْ يغشيِّني اللَّ

هُ نُعاساً لَعَلَّ عَيْني تَراكِ

So I wished that sleepiness would overwhelm me

Perhaps my eyes may see you
