النَفْسُ تَطْمَعُ والأَسْبابُ عاجزةٌ

النَفْسُ تَطْمَعُ والأَسْبابُ عاجزةٌ

والنَّفْسُ تَهلِكُ بَيْنَ اليأَسِ والطَّمَعِ

والنَّفْسُ تَهلِكُ بَيْنَ اليأَسِ والطَّمَعِ

The soul craves, yet the means are inadequate.

The soul aspires while means fall short

And the soul perishes between despair and craving.

And the soul perishes between despair and hope.
