ألا أبلغ همدان ما لقيتها

سلاما فلا يسلم عدو يعيبها

Should I convey to Hamdan what befell me,

Greetings, though no greeting to a blaming foe,

لعمر الهي إن همدان يبتغي ال

له ويفضي بالكتاب خطيبها

By God's life, Hamdan but intends the best

For himself, and is the spokesman of his book.
