Cut, with firm resolve, harm’s branch at the outset,

so long as your determination summons you onward with hope.

فإن تأخرت عن مغزاه كنتَ كمن

يبغي شفا دائه عند انقضا الأجل

For if you delay in pursuing its purpose, you will be like one

who seeks a cure for his illness when his appointed time has expired.
