بِمَرْجَلِّينَ صادفنا فعالاً

تذكِّرنا فعالَ المفترينا

With two shovels we met a man of action

Reminding us of the deeds of the impostors

بإنسانٍ أرانا الخيرَ لفظاً

بلا معنى فخِلناه مُعينا

A man who showed us good only in words

Without meaning, so we counted him a helper

دعانا أولاً حتى حضرنا

فكان من الرجال الناكثينا

First he called us until we came

Yet he was of those who break their word

وكان سحابه فينا جَهاماً

وخُلَّبُ برقِه وعداً لَدَينا

His cloud over us was resolute

And the lightning of his promise was a debt upon us

فلا تعجب لشخصٍ قد تكنَّى

بمعنى إسم أُمِّ العالمينا

So do not wonder at a person who adopted

The meaning of the name of the mother of all worlds

فإن السيف من معناه يكنى

بشرٍّ حيثُ كان به كمينا

For the sword is named after its meaning

As an evil where an ambush lay in wait

بنى ما قد بناه على دِمانا

دمُ الشهداء أضحى وهو فينا

He built what he built upon our blood

The blood of martyrs has become, and it is within us

فإن يَثبُتْ كذا يَشهدْ عليه

وإن يَسقُطْ جزاءُ الظالمينا

If he stands thus, it will testify against him

And if he falls, the recompense of the unjust
