أمَكَّرديجُ زد فضلاً

فأنت الفضل في الناس

My longing increased, so please

For you are the excellence among people

فكم راسٍ به راسٍ

وليس الراسِ كالراسِ

So how many heads with which heads

And not all heads are like heads

علوتَ به فكنت به

على العينين والراس

You rose with it and became with it

Above the eyes and the head

فمن ينسى تقاك يُعَد

د بين الناس كالناسي

So whoever forgets your perfection is counted

Among people like the forgetful

فهل تأسو بكم مضنىً

وأنت الرادف الآسي

So shall I grieve, with all the trouble I have suffered

While you are the comforting companion

فيا آسي ولا آسي

ويا وَردي ويا آسي

Oh comforting one, and not saddening

Oh my rose, and oh comforting one

رسائلكم مفاكهتي

وذكرك طيبُ أنفاسي

Your messages are my fruit

And your remembrance is the fragrance of my breath

فهل تَشفي الوساوسُ من

بِعادٍ زاد وسواسي

Shall the obsessive thoughts be cured

By distance, which increased my obsession?

حواسي فيك مُشغَلةٌ

فأنت قوامُ إحساسي

My senses are busy with you

For you are the pillar of my perception

أنا حاسي الغرام بكم

وكاسي فرَّغَ اَكياسي

I feel passionate love for you

And my cup emptied my bags

وكم حاسٍ بلا كاسٍ

وكم كاسٍ بلا حاس

So many a perceiver without a cup

And many a cup without a perceiver

كسوتكمُ الثناء ضحىً

وأنت السابق الكاسي

I clothed you with praise in the morning

And you are the preceding covered one
