1. حلولٌ حال أفرقَنا مجالا

    هَصوراً يقنص الأُسدَ الدِّحالا

    The time of our separation has arrived

    Portraying the lion pouncing on the serpent

  2. تقمصْنا به جلبابَ حزمٍ

    يقينا سردُه الأمرَ المحالا

    We donned the cloak of resolve

    Surely telling the impossible tale

  3. دعانا دعوةً والعقلُ ساهٍ

    فعاد برفده يزهو صقالا

    He called us with an invitation, though the mind was oblivious

    So it returned with its refinement shining smooth

  4. توسَّمْنا به تمثالَ برٍّ

    فكان على حقيقته كمالا

    We imagined it a statue of righteousness

    Yet it was in its essence perfection

  5. عَرَوناه على الأكوار لما

    برا من أصلنا داءً عضالا

    We presented it to the masses when

    A disease, intractable, showed from our origin

  6. وذلك يوم حل ببيت عَنيا

    شعاعٌ أفعمَ المغنى اشتعالا

    And that was the day rays entered the house of Onias

    A blaze making song erupt into flames

  7. يرفرف فوق رسل اللَه جهراً

    يضيء بألسنٍ كانت مثالا

    It flutters over the messengers of God openly

    Lighting with tongues that were exemplary

  8. يؤثِّل فيهمُ فخراً رفيعاً

    يدرِّعهم مع الأبدي الجلالا

    Boasting through them a noble pride

    Shielding them, together with the Eternal Majesty

  9. وأفشى بينهم سرّاً مصوناً

    فكان الرمز عندهمُ المقالا

    And it divulged among them a guarded secret

    Thus the symbol to them was the word

  10. ففاءوا بالفصاحة مذ تَردَّوا

    رداءً بالمعالي قد تلالا

    So they excelled in eloquence when they donned

    A mantle embroidered with sublime virtues

  11. فكانوا ينطقون بكل فنٍّ

    لغاتٌ عدُّها يُفضي الكلالا

    Thus they spoke every art

    Tongues, enumerating them, the mind falls short

  12. فسارت فرقةٌ منهم يميناً

    وسارت فرقةٌ منهم شمالا

    One group went right

    And one group went left

  13. فبعضٌ قابل البُشرى جنوباً

    وبعضٌ قابل البشرى شمالا

    Some met good tidings in the south

    And some met good tidings in the north

  14. فجالوا ثم جابوا كل أرضٍ

    ولم يعلو المطايا والجِمالا

    They toured then traversed every land

    Neither saddle-beasts nor camels took to flight

  15. فبينا أن تراهم في وهادٍ

    تراهم يرقلون بها القِلالا

    While you see them in the valleys

    You see them climbing up the hills

  16. تراموا مفحمِين بكل قفرٍ

    تخال الماء في الصحراء آلا

    They flung themselves, covered in ashes, into every ruin

    Imagining water in the desert, mirages

  17. يخوضون الغمارَ بعزم جأشٍ

    فيحمي سيرُهم فيها النصالا

    Plunging into the thick dust with fervent resolve

    Their traveling through it shielded by swords

  18. يذودون الأذى من كل عانٍ

    فكانوا للرويّات اعتدالا

    Warding off harm from all the helpless

    Thus they were justice for mysteries

  19. فكم ضاءت حنادسُ من ضياهم

    وقد كانت ظلاماً بل ضلالا

    How their lanterns shone with their illumination

    When before they were darkness, rather misguidance

  20. تخطُّوا المُخطراتِ وهم مواضٍ

    فصادوا كل من خاض النزالا

    They overcame dangers while composed

    Subduing all who entered into combat

  21. عليهم جَوشَنُ التقوى تقيهم

    ذُبابَ الهند والسُمرَ الطوالا

    The armor of piety protects them

    From the flies of India and tall poisonous snakes

  22. وشاحهمُ السوابغ مسبغاتٍ

    وتلك أمانةٌ تُقصي المِحالا

    Their trailing robes dyed

    And that is a trust removing the impossible

  23. وسيفُ الروح في يمنى حماهم

    فلا يخشون منه الإغتيالا

    The sword of the spirit in their right hand

    So they do not fear betrayal from it

  24. وتخفق دونهم راياتُ نصرٍ

    تعيد بُدورَ أعداهم هلالا

    The banners of victory flutter below them

    Returning their enemies to crescent shapes

  25. وقد نبذوا الورى عنهم وراءً

    وقادوا بالوعيد من استقالا

    They discarded the world's reign behind them

    And led those who resisted with menace

  26. وطافوا ثم داسوا كلَّّ قَرْمٍ

    يَقُدُّ بعزم سطوتِه السَّعالا

    They circled then trampled every obstinate tyrant

    Marching with the might of his coughing

  27. تراهم في المشارق شمسَ نُجحٍ

    كما كانوا بمغربها ظلالا

    You see them in the east, a sun of success

    As they had been in its west, shadows

  28. لهم من علمهم في كل نادٍ

    جهابذةٌ يرون الإكتمالا

    From their knowledge in every club

    There are giants who envision perfection

  29. شُذورُ كلامهم في سلك نظمٍ

    يزيد نحور نائطها جمالا

    Sparks of their speech in prose composition

    Add to the necks of its camels beauty

  30. فكان كلامهم في الأرض ملحاً

    يزيلُ فسادها والإغتيالا

    Thus their speech on earth was salt

    Expelling its corruption and treachery

  31. فأين العائشون بها بجهلٍ

    وأين الشائدون بها الضلالا

    Then where are those living in it in ignorance?

    And where are those who in it have gone astray?

  32. وأين بها ملوك الروم طرّاً

    فكم صال الغبي بها وجالا

    And where in it are the arrogant kings of Rome

    So many the foolish have trod upon it and wandered

  33. وكم كانت بها اليونان تعلو

    بحكمتها ارتقاءً واختيالا

    And how high the Greeks in it rose

    In their wisdom, climbing and vaunting

  34. وكم ألقت نفوسٌ من علاءٍ

    كأن بفَلق منطقها نِبالا

    And how many noble souls

    As if its eloquent speech were arrows

  35. ففاجتهم على ذُعرٍ رجالٌ

    سَراةٌ لا يهابون الرجالا

    So they took them by surprise in panic

    Men, horsemen, who do not fear men

  36. تراهم مرسَلين وهم سيادٌ

    يُحيلُ الذيبَ أضعفُهم غزالا

    You see them unleashed while they are lions

    The weakest of them turns the wolf into a gazelle

  37. فأعيَوا كلَّ منطيقٍ قَوُولٍ

    فولى وهو يشكو الإنخذالا

    So they exhausted every strong orator

    Who then turned away complaining of withdrawal

  38. فكم من ميّتٍ نشروه لما

    أروه بالصليب الإشتمالا

    And how many dead they revived when

    They saw them wearing the cross

  39. وكم من أكمهٍ أبرَوا عماه

    فأبصر بعدها ضَوّاً تلالا

    And how many blind they cured of blindness

    Who then saw plains after hills

  40. وكم من أحسبٍ قد طهروه

    وزادوه جمالاً بل كمالا

    And how many madmen they purified

    And increased in beauty, indeed perfection

  41. وكم متشيطنٍ زانوا حِجاه

    برسم صليبهم رسماً تعالى

    And how many possessed they freed

    Adorning their brows with the sign exalted

  42. وكم من مقعدٍ حلُّوا بعزمٍ

    شكائمَه فحاز الإنتقالا

    And how many paralyzed, with resolve,

    They enabled to move freely

  43. وكم من أبكمٍ قد أنطقوه

    غدا قسَّ الفصاحة فاستقالا

    And how many mutes they made speak

    Who then attained mastery of rhetoric

  44. وقادوا الحائدين إلى هُداءٍ

    ولما اندقَّ طودُ الكفر مالا

    And led the straying into guidance

    And when the wall of unbelief inclined

  45. ولما أشرقت شمس المُعزِّي

    بأفق الرسل مزَّقَت المِحالا

    And the sun of the Comforter rose

    On the horizon of the messengers, tearing through barriers

  46. فكانوا كالشهور الغر عدّاً

    أو الأبراج حكماً واعتدالا

    They were like the noble months in number

    Or constellations in wisdom and composure

  47. زعيمُهم الصفا وبها عِياناً

    يَفُلُّ عناد شانيه انفلالا

    Their chief, the Pristine, through whom is perception

    The obstinacy of his detractors crushed into collapse

  48. ولما أن قضى بديار روما

    رئيساً صاب فيها الإنتقالا

    And when in the land of Rome he passed

    As leader, transitioning there

  49. وخلَّف بعده حبراً جليلاً

    حليماً يَرؤُسُ الدنيا كمالا

    He left behind him an eminent patriarch

    Wise, presiding over the world perfectly

  50. فما زالت له الخلفاء تتلو

    إلى أيامنا بل لن تزالا

    Thus for him successors followed continuously

    To our present day, and will not cease to

  51. ترى كرسيَّه يوماً فيوماً

    به الآثار تُفهمُك الجلالا

    You see his throne daily

    By it, traces make you comprehend majesty

  52. له منا السلام ونحن ندعو

    بطاعته يميناً أو شمالا

    From us, peace, as we pray

    With obedience to him, right or left
