    O faithful vinegar

And he who befriends you, his guardian is the Almighty

You have taken the covenant of faith lawfully

By your father! The most righteous will not blame you

And you have entrusted the souls with virtues

Your love protects them, O Exalted Master

Each of your deeds is desirable

And each of your traits is ingenious

Your fingers are supple and your gaze hints

Your idea flows and the intelligent one sees

That you, O Macardich the Redeemer

Guardian of a trust, hero of perfection

    Solving problems of great significance

With which our Bible is forever satisfied

You have overcome them with your quick wit

    Patriotic and brilliant mind

    The innovators saw you confused

That you are among them a goblet and irrigation

You are the vine of innovators, a thicket of thorns

And your fruits are the finest crops

So the wicked Nestorius has fled from you

And the vile Demetrius of snakes

And the wicked Barsuma and his followers

And the accursed Jacob the heretic

And Sergius, he too of serpents

And Photius then Palamas the wretched

They are the ones who distorted it

They are the transgressors and transgression is disobedience

So do not purify the congregation secretly

And its pasture, while its shepherd is a boy

If it is said one who rules by sedition

Which disgraces them, and his ruling is furtive

    I say their adversary altogether

    Is Macardich the vile Armenian

So by God's spirit if settled it settles

And its witness is the mighty Joseph

    Free in our covenant, free

If the water of law has irrigated an enemy

No origin will sprout from it

You have taken a path in truth most high

And the wicked fall short of its extent

Will the smoke of rubbish ever rise

As the pure, fragrant, intelligent musk?

You have sealed the previous cases

As poetry seals the final verse
