How strange are the resolves of one whose body is purified,

Whose features are refined and blameless.

He aids God in His description,

So admire the description, and God aids its creation.

Halt! Let us recite death, for it is the beginning,

And recite the Lord's prayer, and the Lord is its seal.

Let us maintain purity in both,

For the angel contends with its owner to possess it.

Happy is he who prevails over the clay of his body,

Who builds it yet leaves no trace, for its Builder destroys it.

Not every rain cloud achieves harmony within,

Nor every lightning blaze achieves clarity from its source.

He whose soul transcends nature itself,

The angels of the Compassionate attend and accompany him.

Whenever the enlightened intellect is suddenly darkened,

This is the adversary of the pure, oppressing its friend.

He sows in the night of sins and vices,

And irrigates it with the water of perdition and death.

So beware, for escape is its weapon,

Yet remembrance of death contains its cure.
