أَأَتْرُكُ لَذَّةَ الصَّهْباءِ عَمْداً
لما وَعَدُوهُ مِنْ لَبَنٍ وخَمْرِ
Shall I leave willingly the joys of youth
For promises of milk and wine galore?
حياةٌ ثُمَّ مَوتٌ ثُمَّ بَعْثٌ
حَديثُ خُرافَةٍ يا أُمَّ عَمْرِو
This life, then death, then raising from the dust—
Mere fables, O Um 'Amr, and nothing more.
