ومَحْجُوبة في الخِدْرِ عنْ كُلِّ ناظِرٍ
ولَوْ بَرَزَتْ ما ضَلَّ بالليلِ مَنْ يَسْرِي
And veiled in her secluded chamber, hidden from every gaze,
were she to come forth, no traveler by night would lose his way.
يُقَطِّعُ قلبي حُسْنُ خالٍ بخَدِّها
إذا سَفَرَتْ عنه تَنَغّمَ بالسِحْرِ
The beauty of a mole upon her cheek rends my heart;
when she unveils it, it sings with enchantment.
لَخَالٌ بذاتِ الخالِ أَحْسَنُ مَنْظَراً
مِنَ النُّقْطَةِ السّوْداءِ في وَضحِ البَدْرِ
Surely a mole upon the mole-bearing beauty is lovelier to behold
than the black dot in the full moon’s radiance.
