1. My honor lies in loving a people

    ennobled by the Sura “Has There Come?”

  2. And in allegiance to him whose prowess

    humbled those who followed error.

  3. Whenever he spoke of true guidance,

    he refuted the erring one and silenced him.

  4. For his prowess and his guidance,

    the Lord of the Throne named him the Hero.

  5. He stood firm when the feet of all beside

    him slipped into the abysses.

  6. He never worshiped idols,

    nor wavered, nor rebelled.

  7. The Creator’s hand planted for him

    the abode of righteousness and made it flourish.

  8. And raised him as a twin to Ah-

    mad; his spreading tree shall never be hewn down.

  9. They are twin boughs: this one, a warner

    who came; and that one, a guide who arrived.

  10. He guides to all that is fulfilled by

    the Book’s decree and firmly confirmed.

  11. For he is his constant companion, and they never sep-

    arated, in summer or winter.

  12. Yet the enemies would not

    let him so much as turn around.

  13. The weighty trust of guidance and its Book

    were scattered after the Prophet.

  14. O grief for his pent-up wrath,

    and for his silence—O grief!

  15. Long has his enemy’s life endured—

    until when, and until when?
