1. دَعُوا مُقْلَتي تَبْكي لِفقْدِ حَبيبها

    لِيُطْفِىءَ بَرْدُ الدَّمْعِ حَرَّ لَهِيبِها

    Let my tears flow to mourn the loss of my beloved

    So the chill of weeping may quench the burning flames within me

  2. بِمَنْ لَوْ رَأَتْهُ القاطِعاتُ أكُفَّها

    لمَا رَضِيَتْ إِلاَّ بقَطْعِ قُلُوبِها

    For he who, were the severers to see him, would make them lower their swords

    And be content only when they had cut out their own hearts
