بأبي نَبَذْتُكَ بالعَراءِ المُقْفِرِ
وسَتَرْتُ وَجْهَكَ بالتُّرابِ الأَعْفَرِ
By my father I abandoned you in the barren wilderness
And covered your face with the blond dust
بأبي بَذَلْتُكَ بعدَ صَوْنٍ للبِلَى
ورَجعتُ عنكَ صَبَرْتُ أَمْ لَمْ أَصْبِرِ
By my father I sacrificed you after guarding you from fading away
I turned away from you, was I patient or not?
لو كُنْتُ أَقْدِرُ أَنْ أَرَى أَثَرَ البِلَى
لَتَركتُ وجهكَ ضَاحِياً لَمْ يُقْبَرِ
If only I could see the traces of fading away
I would have left your face smiling, unburied
