  1. يا ملكاً قد جمّلَ العَصرا

    وفاق أملاكَ الوَرى طُرّا

    O king who adorned the epoch,

    And surpassed the kings of the world in flight,

  2. وفاتَ في نائلهِ حاتِماً

    وبذَّ في اقدامهِ عَمرا

    You outdid Hatim in generosity,

    And trampled over great men in your steps.

  3. وباكَرَ العلياءَ فافتضّها

    وكانتِ الناهِدَةَ البِكرا

    You picked the ripe fruits early,

    Plucking the virgin buds.

  4. أما تَرى الدّهرَ وقد جاءنا

    مستقبلاً بالبِشرِ والبُشرى

    Do you not see time coming to us,

    With good news and tidings?

  5. يجري لدينا ما أتانا بهِ

    أحسن وأكرم بالذي أجَرى

    It brings us what came to us,

    The best and most generous that has come.

  6. العيدُ والنَيرُوزُ في حالةٍ

    وطلعةُ المنصورِ والنّصرا

    The feast and Nairuz are in a state,

    And the rise of al-Mansur and victory.

  7. والأرضُ قد تاهت به واغتدت

    تختالُ في حُلِّتها الخَضرا

    The land was lost in it and revived,

    Strutting in its green dress.

  8. عبّستِ السّحبُ على نَورِها

    فراحَ ثغرُ النَّورِ مُفتراً

    The clouds frowned over its light,

    So the mouth of light smiled broadly.

  9. الصّومُ قد ولّى بآلامهِ

    والفِطرُ باللّذّاتِ قد كرا

    Fasting has passed with its pains,

    And breaking the fast with pleasures multiplied.

  10. فانهض بِلا مطلٍ ولا فترةٍ

    نرتشفِ المشمولةَ الخمرا

    So rise up without delay or idleness,

    Let us sip the mixed wine.

  11. حِيريّةٌ قد عُتّقُت حِقبَةً

    فأقبلت تخبرُ عن كِسرَى

    A Hiraan woman freed from captivity,

    Came to tell of Khosrow.

  12. واستجلها صفراءَ قُدسيّةً

    تَحسبُها في كأسِها تِبرا

    And she imagined the golden Jerusalem wine,

    To be dust in her cup.

  13. أو ذَوبَ جمرٍ حلّ في جامِد ال

    ماءِ فأبدى فوقهُ دُرّا

    Or embers melted in solid water,

    Displaying pearls above it.

  14. وباكرِ اللّذّةَ في حِينها

    وقُم بنا ننتهبُ العُمرا

    And enjoy pleasure in its time,

    And rise, we will plunder lives.

  15. في دوحةٍ أُترجُّها يانعٌ

    يلوحُ في الأغصانِ مُصفرّا

    In an orchard I perfume, whose saplings

    Appear yellow in the branches.

  16. كأنّهُ اذ لاحَ في دوحِها

    وجهُ سماءٍ أطلعت زَهرا

    As if when it appeared in its meadow,

    It was the face of a sky that rose as a flower.

  17. واسلم ودُم في عيشةٍ رغدةٍ

    تُبلي على جِدّتِها الدّهرا

    And be safe and live in abundant comfort,

    That makes time age on its firmness.
