كَفى حَزَناً أَنَّ الغِنى مُتَعَذر

عَلَيَّ وَأَنّي بِالمَكارِمِ مُغرَمُ

Enough with sorrow that wealth is out of reach for me

And that I am enamored with generosity

فَوَاللَهِ ما قَصَّرتُ في نَيلِ غايَةٍ

وَلَكِنَّني أَسعى إِلَيها فَأُحرَمُ

By God, I have not fallen short of attaining any goal

Rather, I strive for it, yet am deprived
