لما نظر الجفن ضعيفا نهكا

من فرقته رق لضعفي وبكي

When my weak, exhausted eyes looked upon him,

They softened from parting with him, and wept for my weakness.

وارتاح وقال لي أما قلت لكا

ما يمكنك الفراق ما يمكنكا

Then they found peace, and said to me, "Did I not tell you

That you cannot bear separation or parting?"
