رَقَّ في الجَوِّ النَسيمُ

فَتَفَضَّل يا نَديمُ

The breeze softened in the air

So please, my friend

ماتَرى كَيفَ اِمَّحَت مِن

حُلَّةِ اللَيلِ رُقومُ

What do you see, how the traces shone

From the dress of the night, the features

وَكَأَنَّ الفَجرَ نَهرٌ

غَرِقَت فيهِ النُجومُ

As if the dawn is a river

In which the stars drowned

فَاِجلُ بِالصَهباءِ لَيلاً

بَقِيَت مِنهُ رُسومُ

So pass the night quickly

Its forms remained

وَاِسبِقِ الشَمس بِشَمسٍ

لا تُواريها الغُيومُ

And precede the sun with a sun

The clouds do not conceal it

قَهوَةٌ رَقَّت فَما في

كَأسِها إِلّا نَسيمُ

Coffee softened so nothing in

Its cup except a breeze

بِنتُ كَرَمٍ لَم يَفُز قَطُّ

بِها إِلّا الكَريمُ

A daughter of generosity who never

Won except the generous

وَعَلى طينَتِها مِن

سالِفِ الدَهرِ خُتومُ

And on her clay from

Earlier times there are seals

لَم يَزَل عِندَ المَجوسِيِّ

لَها قَدرٌ عَظيمُ

She was always highly esteemed

By al-Majusi

وَلَها الراهِبُ في الدَي

رِ يُصَلّي وَيَصومُ

And the monk in the monastry

Prays and fasts for her

وَقَليلٌ كُلَّ ما يَط

لُبُ فيها وَيَسومُ

And little is all that he

Requests from her and is resolved

وَلَقَد طافَ بِها سا

قٍ رَخيمٌ وَرَحيمُ

And a tender carrier courteous

Roamed around her

بارِعٌ في كُلِّ ما تَط

لُبُ مِنهُ وَتَرومُ

Skillful in all that she wants

From him and aspires

يا نَديمي وَكَما تَه

وى حَبيبٌ وَحَميمُ

My friend, and as a loved one, intimate

No disapproval appears from him

لَيسَ يَبدو مِنهُ ماتَع

تُبُ فيهِ وَتَلومُ

Cheerful in the art of melodies and beating expert

And by my life, if you would be so kind

مُطرِبٌ في صَنعَةِ الأَل

حانِ وَالضَربِ عَليمُ

Then pleasure would be complete

وَلَعَمرِيَ إِن تَفَضَّل

تَ فَقَد تَمَّ النَعيمُ
