  1. تُرى كَم قَد بَدَت مِنكُم

    أُمورٌ ما عَهِدناها

    How many things appeared from you

    That we didn't know before

  2. وَعَرَّضتُم بِأَقوالٍ

    وَما نَجهَلُ مَعناها

    And you said things

    Whose meanings we don't understand

  3. نَبَشتُم بَينَنا أَشيا

    ءَ كُنّا قَد دَفَنّاها

    You dug up between us things

    That we had buried

  4. وَطَرَّقتُم إِلى الغَدرِ

    طَريقاً ما سَلَكناها

    And you took the path of betrayal

    A path we never took

  5. وَقَبَّحتُم بِأَسماءٍ

    وَحَسَّنتُم مُسَمّاها

    You gave ugly names

    And praised what was named

  6. وَكَم جاءَت لَنا عَنكُم

    أَحاديثٌ رَدَدناها

    And how many talks came to us about you

    That we denied

  7. وَأَشياءٌ رَأَيناها

    وَقُلنا ما رَأَيناها

    And things we saw

    And said we didn't see

  8. فَلا وَاللَهِ مايَح

    سُنُ بَينَ الناسِ ذِكراها

    No, by Allah, remembering them

    Does no good among people

  9. قَرَأنا سُؤَةَ السَلوا

    نِ عَنكُم بَل حَفِظناها

    We read the evil omens about you

    Rather we memorized them

  10. وَما زِلتُم بِنا حَتّى

    جَسَرنا وَفَعَلناها

    And you didn't stop with us until

    We were daring and did it

  11. فَرِجلٌ تَطلِبُ المَسعى

    إِلَيكُم قَد مَنَعناها

    So a foot that seeks access

    To you, we denied it

  12. وَعَينٌ تَتَمَنّى أَن

    تَراكُم قَد غَضَضناها

    And an eye that wishes

    To see you, we lowered it

  13. وَنَفسٌ كُلَّما اِشتاقَت

    لِلُقياكُم زَجَرناها

    And a soul whenever it longed

    To meet you, we deterred it

  14. وَكانَت بَينَنا طاقٌ

    فَها نَحنُ سَدَدناها

    And there was a connection between us

    So here we are, we blocked it

  15. وَلَو أَنَّكُمُ جَنّا

    تُ عَدنٍ ما دَخَلناها

    And if you were the gardens

    Of Eden, we wouldn't enter them

  16. وَأَمّا الحالَةُ الأُخرى

    فَإِنّا قَد سَلَوناها

    And as for the other situation

    We asked about it

  17. وَقَد ماتَت وَصَلَّينا

    عَليها وَدَفَنّاها

    And it died, so we prayed

    Over it and buried it

  18. هَجَرنا ذِكرَها حَتّى

    كَأَنّا ما عَرَفناها

    We abandoned mentioning it until

    It was as if we never knew it

  19. وَها نَحنُ وَها أَنتُم

    مَتى قَطُّ ذَكَرناها

    And here we are, and here you are

    When did we ever mention it?

  20. وَفي النَفسِ بَقايا مِن

    أَحاديثٍ خَبَأناها

    And in the soul there remain

    Conversations we concealed

  21. فَلَو أَرضَتكُمُ الأَروا

    حُ مِنّا لَبَذَلناها

    If spirits satisfied you from us

    We would give them
