O you who often spurns and turns away
I'm content with how you are, come what may
Please my love, tell me in God's name
Where is that acceptance, where is that ease
And who of all people makes you displeased
With me? By God, none takes such offense!
For you I gained fame and much talk
Flowing from a tearful eye's welling stalk
And a heart that lost all patience and calm
Eyelids that ceased their collected charm
I have a need, dear, to ask of you
Yet shyly I stay, my lips askew
A need, since I wanted, I in consent
Declined, while you cared not to relent
My hope in you a mere glance has rent
That was future, and this is past tense
I desire your promised word to hence
Let life in wants and needs come to an end
This my tale, my talk, my attended send
Yours the choice, fulfill what you intend
