أَيا مَنْ خانَ مَخْبَرُهُ
وَعَزَّ الصَّبَّ مَنْظَرُهُ
O you whose inner nature has proved faithless,
and whose looks have overpowered the lovesick lover;
وَمَنْ أُخْفِي هَوَايَ لَهُ
وَدَمْعُ الْعَيْنِ يُظْهُرهُ
and you for whom I conceal my love,
while the eye's tears reveal it:
أَنِلْنِي مالِكِي وَصْلاً
حَقِيراً لَسْتُ أَحْقِرُهُ
grant me, my master, a union,
however slight—I do not disdain it.
وَلا يَمْنَعْكَ قِلَّتُهُ
أقَلُّ الْوَصْلِ أَكْثَرُهُ
And let its smallness not deter you:
the least union is the greatest.
