وَقَهْوَةٍ يَتَرامى
شَعاعُها بِلَهِيبِ
With coffee whose radiance
Spreads in fervent flames
جَعَلْتُها حَظًّ نَفْسِي
عِشْقاً لهَا وَنَصِيبِي
I made my soul’s fortune
For my love and fate
بِيَوْمٍ سَعْدٍ مُصَفَّى
مِنَ الزَّمانِ المَشُوبِ
On a day of pure bliss
Free of troubled times
فَسَقِّنِي تِذْكاراً
لِطَاعَةِ المَحْبُوبِ
Quench me with remembrance
Of obeying the beloved
وَاعْصِ الرَّقِيبَ فإِنِّي
أُحِلُّ قَتْلَ الرَّقِيبِ
Disobey the watcher, for
I allow killing the watcher
أَبَى شَبابِيَ إلاَّ
عَصِيَّةً لِمَشِيبِي
My youth refused
Except disobedience to my old age
مَا سَوَّدَ النَّسْكُ مِنِّي
إلاّ بَياضَ ذُنُوبي
Devotion did not blacken me
Except the whiteness of my sins
