حبك يا ذات الأنيف الأكشم

حب تساقاه مُشاشُ أعظمي

I love you, O nobly featured one,

A love carried by my innermost being.

ودب بين كبدي ومحزمي

وساطه الله بلحمي ودمي

It crept between my liver and waist,

God intermingled it with my flesh and blood.

فليس بالمذق ولا المكتم

ولا الذي إن يتقادم يسأم

It is not to be tasted or hidden away,

Nor is it that which, if forgotten, becomes tedious.

لقد نزلت من فؤاد فاعلمي

منزلة الشيء المحب المكرم

Indeed it descended from an ardent heart—know this—

To the station of the beloved and honored thing.
