سودٌ صَناعِيَةٌ إِذا ما أَورَدوا

صَدَرَت عَتومَتُهُم وَلَمّا تُحلَبِ

When they attack with their black army,

their insolence overflowed, but was not milked;

صُلعٌ صَلامِعَةٌ كَأَنَّ أُنوفَهُم

بَعَرٌ يُنَظِّمُهُ الوَليدُ بِمَلعَبِ

their bald heads shine as if their noses

were camels arranged by al-Walid in an enclosure;

لا يَخطُبونَ إِلى الكِرامِ بَناتِهِم

وَتَشيبُ أَيَّمُهُم وَلَمّا تُخطَبِ

they do not seek the daughters of the generous (in marriage),

their spinsters grow old without being sought in marriage.
