O you who count my love for him
among my sins—though I have no good deeds but that love.
Would you forsake one who loves none but you,
who falls headlong into love of you, while you delight in shunning him?
Enough, enough estrangement! What
you have inflicted did not satisfy even my envier.
I love you—by God—with the love of early youth,
the love of young manhood, and the love of life.
