رُبَّ لَيْلٍ أَمَدَّ مِنْ نَفَسِ العَا
شِقِ طُولاً قَطَعْته بِانْتِحَابِ
Many a night, longer than the breath of the lov—
—er, in length, I passed in wailing;
وَنَهارٍ أَلَذَّ مِنْ نَظْرَةِ المَعْشُو
قِ بدّلْتُهُ بِبُؤْسِ عِتَابِ
and many a day sweeter than a glance from the belov—
—ed, I exchanged for the misery of reproach.
