Rise—mix the wine with silver-bright water,
and bear the cup in both your hands.
Seize the nights while they are heedless,
for they may awaken us to parting.
For, by my life, it gladdened—more than mine—
every eye, that crescent of Shawwal.
Does she who wears anklets behold it—
its likeness, her anklet of silver?
