بِلِحاظِهِ سَيْفُ المَنُو
نِ مُجَرَّداً بِيَدِ الفُتُونِ
With his sheath, the sword of flexing,
Bare in the hand of allurement.
وَإِذا تَثَنَّى قَدُّهُ
أَزرى بِتَحْرِيكِ الغُصُونِ
And when his figure sways,
He gestures, stirring the boughs.
فَدُمُوعُ عَيْني إِذْ رَأَت
هُ تَجودُ بِالدَّمْعِ المَصُونِ
So my eyes’ tears, when they saw
Him, pour forth with guarded weeping.
مَا تَطْعَمُ الإِغْماضَ مِنْ
قِصَرِ الجُفُونِ عَنِ الجُفُونِ
Closing my eyes cannot prevent
My lids falling short of my lids.
