وَمَا أَبْقَى الهَوى وَالشَّوْقُ مِنِّي
سِوى رُوحٍ ترَدّدُ في خيَالِ
Love and longing have left nothing of me
but my soul, flickering within a phantom.
خَفِيتُ عَنِ النَّوائِبِ أَنْ تَراني
كأنَّ الرُّوحَ مِنِّي في مُحَالِ
I grew too hidden for calamities to see me,
as though the soul within me dwelt in the impossible.
