وَذَاتِ رِيقٍ إِنْ تَرَشَّفْتَهُ
وَجَدْتَهُ أَحْلى مِنَ المَنِّ
And one whose nectar—if you sip it—
you find sweeter than manna.
إِذَا بَدَتْ فِي كَفِّ جَلابِها
رَأَيْتَهَا في غَايَةِ الحُسْنِ
When she appears in the hand of the dealer who brought her,
you see her at the very summit of beauty:
كَسَلَّةٍ خَضْرَاءَ مَخْتُومَةٍ
عَلَى الفُصُوص الحُمْرِ فِي القُطْنِ
like a green basket, sealed shut
over red gemstones set in cotton.
