مَلَّ فَأَبْدى الصُّدُودَ مِنْ مَلَلِ

وَاعْتَلَّ في صِحَّةٍ مِنَ العِلَلِ

He became bored and showed disinterest

And became arrogant in his health and strength

وَكُنْتُ إِنْ غِبْتُ عَنْهُ راسَلَنِي

فَنَحْنُ في فَتْرَةٍ مِنَ الرُّسُلِ

If I was absent from him he would write to me

But now we are in a period without messengers
